Super Mario Party

Super Mario Party Finally Has A New Update And It Adds Proper Online

Nintendo make a lot of weird decisions but the largest is the fact that Super Mario Party, which has sold nearly 14 million copies has never received a major update in over two years since it hit the shelves.

That is all changing today. Whilst the game had online for one of its minigame modes (it was limited to its minigame marathon mode) a free update today will add online to majority of the game’s modes.

You’ll be able to play the main party mode online in all four boards, 70 of the mini games will be playable online (none of the rhythm games) and the Partner Party 2 on 2 modes will also be playable online. You’ll be able to play in private matches or open it up to your entire friend list.

THE UPDATE NOTES ARE BELOW:

Ver. 1.1.0 (Released April 27, 2021)

  • You can now play the following modes over the internet:
    • Mario Party
    • Partner Party
    • Free Play (Minigames)
  • The following 10 minigames are not available when playing over the internet.
    • Strike It Rich
    • Time to Shine
    • Take a Stab
    • All-Star Swingers
    • Rhythm and Bruise
    • Pep Rally
    • Wiped Out
    • Fiddler on the Hoof
    • Clearing the Table
    • Baton and On

Whilst it’s not new minigames or new boards, at least it’s something and shows that Nintendo still remembers the game exists. It seems unlikely that we’ll get a new content related update at this point and that surely we’ll see a sequel to the game soon.
