Press Start’s GOTY 2022 #4 – Cult Of The Lamb

Four the flock!

Although Devolver had a pretty productive year which saw Guybrush Threepwood bask in the spotlight once again in Return to Monkey Island, no game caught fire quite like Cult of the Lamb.

Quite the homegrown success, Cult of the Lamb sees you, a lamb, tend to your devoted flock of followers and do the bidding of the godlike “One Who Waits” through menial custodial tasks and ritual sacrifice.

The game is a mash-up of two beloved genres as one half of it feels like a sickly, twisted Animal Crossing management sim while the other is a by the numbers dungeon crawler that feels like The Binding of Isaac, both in terms of tone and game feel.

Massive Monster became a household name with this game and we’re super keen to see whatever it is they set their odd little minds to next.

In his review, Brodie scored Cult of the Lamb an 8 out of 10 stating: “Cult of the Lamb is sure to be a homegrown success on the back of its tremendous presentation, which is helped along by captivating notions of cultism and devotion. I just wish there was more of an accord between the game’s working parts, which ultimately feels like a game of two individually brilliant halves.”
