Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a huge game packed full of exciting content, a heap of options for tweaking the experience and of course a thrilling Spider-Man story for fans to play through.
One thing it won’t have at launch though, is any kind of New Game Plus or Mission Replay feature, as confirmed by Insomniac’s Director of Community and Marketing, James Stevenson, but it sounds like we can expect to see at least NG+ by the end of 2023.
In response to comments on social media asking about the inclusion of these features at launch, Stevenson simply said, “No – we’re working on an update for those features but they won’t be in Day 1,” following up a question about timing by saying it “Should be end of year.”

Amusingly, in response to other users questioning why the features aren’t there from the start, Stevenson simply stresses, “Because game dev isn’t simple, nor easy.”
We gave Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 a huge 9/10 in our review, saying “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 cleverly pairs its added width and breadth with more depth and meaningful new gameplay and story opportunities. There’s rarely a moment here that doesn’t feel thrilling, enchanting, heartbreaking, awe-inspiring or some combination of it all. Beyond untangling the finer threads of its design or narrative ambitions though, it’s genuinely just the most fun, gorgeous open world superhero game out there.”
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releases exclusively for PS5 on October 20, 2023. Amazon has pre-orders for $99 with free shipping.
