The Top 10 Games In Australia And New Zealand

...uhhh

What games have Aussie and New Zealand players been picking up most in recent weeks? That’s the question we’re answering every week with thanks to the weekly Top 10 ANZ Games Charts from the folks over at the Interactive Games & Entertainment Association (IGEA).

The latest report, which comes from the week ending July 28th, 2024, shows much the same titles taking up the top te- hang on. What is Everybody 1-2 Switch doing here? And at the #1 spot??

Readers… I’m not sure what to make of this one. Somehow, in the Aussie charts, last year’s already-forgotten Nintendo party game compilation, Everybody 1-2 Switch, has cracked the top spot for the week reported. Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp has also made it in at the #7 spot, which might have been surprising had it not been far overtaken by an even more bewildering entrant. Typically when a legacy or less-popular title winds up in this list it’s easy to chalk it up to sales or freebies in bundles at retail, but Everybody 1-2 Switch has been at a dirt-cheap price on Amazon and at other retailers since about March/April this year so it’s still quite a sudden surge.

I don’t normally, but I’ve reached out to GSD, where these numbers come from, to see if there’s any potential insight into this one. It’s strange, indeed. At least GTA V has been held off of the #1 spot!
