Samsung 4-Door French Door 648L Refrigerator With Beverage Centre Review – Feel The Chill

Big and beautiful

I’ve been living with the Samsung 648L French Door Refrigerator for a few months now and it’s genuinely the best I’ve had. It’s also one of the first fridges I’ve had plumbed into my kitchen, which means I’ve been able to benefit from arguably its best features, and I can’t speak to how highly enough I recommend doing this if your fridge allows for it.

The size of the fridge had us double-checking our cavity measurements before it arrived, because boy, it’s big. Its flat, minimalist design, free of any external water dispensers or visible handles is perfect for our streamlined kitchen. We also rarely need to wipe it down, thanks to its anti-fingerprint finish which our light-filled kitchen really puts to the test.

Conveniently, it’s a bottom-mount refrigerator, meaning everything that needs to be most accessible actually is and there’s plenty of room too. The fridge itself has a 389L capacity – the perfect “family fridge”; wide, accessible shelves at the perfect height, two large vegetable crisper drawers and door storage, ideal for bottles and jars. The generous depth of the door bins means they can even store 3L bottles of milk and soft drinks with ease.

But the game-changer for us is absolutely The Beverage Centre. I’d always dreamed of having a fridge with one of these, and boy did it deliver. the left-outer door opens separately to the door itself, giving quick access to drinks without opening the fridge. Not only is it the perfect spot for your “fridge cigarettes” (aka cans of Diet Coke), but we’ve actually been using a shelf for frequently used items like our tub of butter and Vegemite.

The shelf height is a little bit awkward depending on what you’re wanting to store, with cans fitting perfectly at the top of bottom, but for instance a bottle of beer wouldn’t fit on ether shelve, which isn’t an issue for us but might be for some.

The Beverage Centre is also home to the water dispenser and AutoFill Water Jug. The water dispenser is perfect for a quick glass or two of chilled water, but the AutoFill Water Jug is ideal for meal times or entertaining. As the name suggests, when you’re done with the water jug, it automatically tops up with chilled water in a matter of minutes minutes, ready for its next use. The jug itself also has an infuser section for adding lemon or fruit for something a little more fancy, and all of the water that goes through both part

Conveniently right underneath the Beverage Centre is the Dual Auto Ice Maker, making two types of ice; normal cubes and slightly smaller ice bites. It can make up to 2.6kg of ice per day and store up to 3.1kg of ice, and in addition to the chilled dispenser and jug, it’s totally changed how I consume beverages, with absolutely every single drink I consume now having ice, even in Melbourne’s chilly winter and I can’t wait to experience it over the Summer.

Another worthy mention is the noise, or lack thereof. For a fridge of its size, and one that is constantly producing ice and refilling water – we don’t hear a peep. The occasional “ice drop” is even subtle enough to not set off our highly-attentive and bark-at-anything dachshunds. The true test.

All-in-all, this is the fridge of dreams. The features all feel genuinely useful and high-end without being gimmicky, and it’ll feel like money well spent in any Aussie home, whilst being incredibly spacious inside too.
