Watch Dogs Legion Lets You Play As Absolutely Anyone

Though we knew it was coming, it’s fair to say we didn’t quite expect Watch Dogs Legion to kick off Ubisoft’s conference.

The game introduces us to a few of the game’s characters while showing us a stunning recreation of London with plenty of landmarks like the Tower of London and the Coca-Cola London Eye. It’s under heavy military occupation, which leads to troubles for our enormous cast of heroes who all hope to rise up against their oppressors. The demo quickly raises the stakes, showing off its permadeath system.

It was pretty hilarious that after a cockney Lock Stock type of operator, players are placed in the plaid dress of Helen, an elderly British woman who, if we’re being honest, kicks a whole lot of ass.

Traditional Watch Dogs gameplay seems to return with a lot of hacking, punching on and jacking cars in the middle of dense London streets. We were concerned about feeling anything for these characters given you’re able to take over most NPCs and add them to your cast of revolutionaries, but with Bagley topping the hierarchy to act as the ‘man in the chair’ for all of these hopefuls, it ties them all together and gives each character loss some weight.

The scale and scope of Watch Dogs Legion is certainly impressive and we can’t wait to get our hands on it.

Watch Dogs Legion releases on March 6, 2020, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Google Stadia and PC.
