Here’s Why Call Of Duty Zombies In Black Ops 6 Is A Big Improvement

It's alive!

COD Next has finally given Call Of Duty fans the official reveal they’ve been practically biting brains for, Zombies

As we already knew from our last COD adventure, round-based Zombies in the Call of Duty franchising is making a triumphant return in Black Ops 6, allowing players to once again face off with friends against the decaying hordes of the undead through surviving increasingly difficult rounds by upgrading weapons and equipping ammo mods and perks to come out victorious…and alive (mechanically speaking though either, by reaching a new high round PB or by exfilling).

The gang at Treyarch also showed off during the event some of the wild gear and gadgets players can use to carve their way through the zombie crowds. We’ve listed some of the new weapons and ammo mods below:

The New Wonder Weapon – Thrustodyne M23

  • A Jet Engine that pulls in zombies from afar to rip them to shreds.
  • It never breaks, but players will need to manage overheating for optimal use.
  • The Thrustodyne’s emergency alt fire will absolutely annihilate all zombies in its path.

Melee Macchiato

  • Looks and feels as cool as it sounds.
  • Essentially replaces a player’s gun with one lethal punch.

A New Field Upgrade – Dark Flare

  • A brand new high damage attack.
  • Dark Flare deals lethal shadow damage to zombies.
  • It essentially generates a high powered beam.

New Ammo Mod – Shadow Rift

  • This is a new crowd control ammo mod.
  • It deals shadow damage.
  • It has the chance to teleport enemies away, but some of them will reappear from portals above falling at high speeds to their final demise.

Gobblegums

  • The gobble gum system has been simplified into specific types.
  • All rarities of which will be earnable by playing.
  • Players will be able to create packs of 5 gums, and store up to 3 unique gums on their persons.
  • Gobblegums will only be consumed when activated.

Another exciting announcement for the world of COD Zombies, was the reveal that for the first time ever players will be able to switch between first and third person at anytime. So for those who may want a new way to play, or highlight the new omnimovement system also coming to Zombies, this will be the perfect option.

Other announced improvements to the overall Zombies experience coming to Black Ops 6 was the newly added shared door buy (allowing players to split the bill as it were), the ability to toggle Pack-A-Punch camos and change your field upgrade mid-match, as well as the means to switch Gobblegum packs at any time.

Treyarch also noted that the game over experience will vary depending on how players’ games come to an end, with the addition of Game Over outros. This means a custom cinematic will play players out, dependent on their actions that led them there.

More interestingly, a Directed Mode will be coming to Zombies post launch, as a way to reveal the Zombies main storyline and plot to players who are wanting a more guided experience through the dark lands. In this mode, players will get a little more hand holding and direction compared to the normal ‘figure it out’ vibe, as well as having rounds be a little more paced out, allowing more time for upgrading and gear finding needed to advance through the lore.

Bring all this together with the two new Zombies maps, Liberty Falls and Terminus, it’s looking like Call of Duty Zombies fan will be left feeling alive and well fed come October.
