How To Make Finding Korok Seeds Easier In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Mask up.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has finally launched, and much like Breath of the Wild before it there’s a ton of stuff to see and do in its enormous world. Also like the previous game, Link can upgrade his inventory space for melee weapons, bows and shields by sniffing out hidden Koroks in the world, obtaining their seeds and returning them to a giant Korok named Hestu.

You can see our quick guide to discovering Hestu here, but once you’ve done that you might be wondering the best way to go about actually finding all of the seeds – there are 900 of them, after all.

While you won’t necessarily need to find every single one of these to have a sizeable gear carrying capacity, it definitely helps to have as many as possible, and (outside of taking the easy route and simply following online guides) there’s a way to make finding them just a touch easier with the Korok Mask.

Just as in Breath of the Wild, the Korok Mask is an equippable piece of head gear that detects nearby Koroks and starts shaking to indicate to the player that they should start looking around. It’s not overly difficult to find either, although you’ll have to defeat a somewhat tough enemy to earn it.

Caution: The below method involves visiting a location that’s new to Tears of the Kingdom, so very mild spoilers lie ahead.

The Korok Mask is a reward for completing a special Coliseum challenge in Tears of the Kingdom, located at the Forest Coliseum in the Depths underneath the Hyrule Forest. The coliseum is roughly under the Northwest side of the forest, but the closest way into the depths to reach it is from the Minshi Woods chasm which is Southeast of the forest and just North of the Ekochiu Shrine, you can reach the shrine travelling Northeast from Lookout Landing.

Travelling Northwest from where you land in the Depths, you’ll find the Forest Coliseum at the far corner of the underground equivalent to Hyrule Forest. After you’ve come across a few Lightroots on your path due NW you may stumble upon a trail of bananas to help lead you to the coliseum.

Once here, you’ll need to head inside where you’ll be faced with a Black Hinox at the coliseum’s centre. It’s a tough battle, so depending on how early you attempt this little adventure you may find yourself overpowered and need to return later with better gear (thankfully those Lightroots make for handy fast travel points).

Once you do defeat the Black Hinox though, your reward of a shiny new Korok Mask awaits. Now get hunting for those seeds!
