Astro Bot is out now and like PlayStation announced a week ago, Astro will be able to borrow special abilities from other PlayStation heroes.
OBVIOUS SPOILERS TO FOLLOW
Whilst there’s over 50 great levels on offer in Astro Bot, this is easily the coolest part of the game, with each world offering up one of these levels where Astro goes into the world of an iconic PlayStation franchise ranging from deep cuts such as Ape Escape to more modern classics such as God of War.
Each of these levels do an extremely good job at capturing the world and characters that they’re based on with the Ape Escape level for instance giving Astro a net and the monkey radar so that he can hunt down monkeys (bots) which adds to the collection of bots.
ALL OF THE PLAYSTATION HERO LEVELS IN ASTRO BOT
- Gorilla Nebula – World 1 – Apes On The Loose – An Ape Escape style level where Astro gets the Monkey Net and Monkey Radar and must gather a whole bunch of escaped apes.
- Tentacle System – World 2 – Bot Of War – Astro is given the Leviathan Axe from Kratos and must work his way through an arctic tundra. You’ll even be able to find Odin’s Ravens too.
- Serpent Starway – World 3 – Dude Raiding – Astro is given Nathan Drake’s pistol and must embark on a treasure hunting quest through an ancient temple.
- Camo Cosmos – World 4 – Going Loco – Astro is turned into a Loco from LocoRoco and must use the gyro in the Dualsense to navigate through a topsy turvy level.
- Feather Cluster – World 5 – Machine Learning – Astro is given Aloy’s Bow from Horizon and must travel through the new world and defeat a savage machine on water.
Astro Bot releases on September 6th. The cheapest price is currently $89 with free shipping from Amazon with the DualSense controller also available for $124.95 HERE.
We gave the game a 9/10 in our review and said: “Astro’s first fully-spec’d adventure might not move the needle forward for 3D platformers, but it’s a triumphant effort from Team Asobi that stands toe-to-toe with some of the best in the genre. It’s full of joy and surprise, and presented with an astonishing level of detail and tactility and packed to the rafters with reverence for PlayStation history. An easy pick for one of the year’s best, if not the PS5’s as a whole.”
