Ubisoft has officially confirmed that the company has decided not to release an installment of the popular ‘Assassin’s Creed’ franchise this year. This news follows numerous reports and rumors the past months that indicated the lack of a 2016 release for the franchise.
Ubisoft clarified the decision in an official blog post:
“Since the release of Assassin’s Creed Unity, we’ve learned a lot based on your feedback. We’ve also updated our development processes and recommitted to making Assassin’s Creed a premier open-world franchise. We’re taking this year to evolve the game mechanics and to make sure we’re delivering on the promise of Assassin’s Creed offering unique and memorable gameplay experiences that make history everyone’s playground.”

As noted, the company intends to give the franchise more time for development. Ubisoft and 20th Century Fox currently have a feature film starring Michael Fassbender scheduled this December.
