Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon were formally announced via Nintendo’s ‘Pokémon Direct’ stream on the 27th of February 2016 (2am AEDT).
Coinciding with the initial release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan, on what is being known as ‘Pokémon Day’, Tsunekazu Ishihara of the Pokémon Company presented the first details of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, to be released in late 2016. The games will be released in nine different languages, now including Chinese (Simplified) and Chinese (Traditional).
However gamers will have to wait for any news on other rumoured titles such as the state of Pokémon Go!, or a possible translation of ‘Great Detective Pikachu’ for the West, with details still being kept tightly under wraps.
Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon are expected to be released in late 2016 for the Nintendo 3DS consoles, so stay tuned for more information as it comes. As of publication, Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow are now available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop in Australia.
