It’s been revealed that Far Cry is bringing a free survival mode to Far Cry Primal on April 12th. The mode will feature optional permadeath and a staminate gauge for Takkar meaning that he’ll grow weaker and need rest from time to time. The minimap is also turned off.
In addition, Takkar won’t be able to call his owl to kill enemies and the beasts that you control are going to be less powerful. You’ll also need to re-tame your beast once they’re dead.
“The idea of doing this mode actually started from the team, saying they wanted to create this mode based on feedback they got from the community,” Far Cry Primal director Thomas Simon said on the UbiBlog. “The keystone of that survival mode is the change in the exploration, crafting and difficulty of the game to make it even more realistic. After that, there are options the player can activate to go further.”
