During a press conference following Microsoft Build 2016, Spencer was asked if he thought that Microsoft would follow in the footsteps of Sony if PlayStation 4.5 turns out to be being a real thing. Obviously Spencer said that he didn’t want to comment on the truth behind the PlayStation 4.5 but he did say that he’s not a huge fan of creating a mid-generation console.
Phil Spencer had the below to say.
“I’m not a big fan of Xbox One and a half. If we’re going to move forward, I want to move forward in big numbers. For us, our box is doing well. It performs, it’s reliable, the servers are doing well. If we’re going to go forward with anything, I want it to be a really substantial change for people–an upgrade.”
