Pete Hines Shoots Down Popular Skyrim And Fallout Theory

A popular fan theory suggesting Fallout and The Elder Scrolls share a universe emerged after references to items from one started popping up in the other franchise. There’s a lot of romance to this theory and it’s been thought that the rumoured forthcoming Starfield would officially ‘unify’ them, so to speak.

Though, when talking to Gamespot, Pete Hines categorically shut this theory down.

“I haven’t the foggiest of notion how anybody could make the leap that they are in fact part of the same thing,” he said. “We made Elder Scrolls, and a completely different developer and publisher came up with Fallout, which we then acquired.”

Even after the acquisition, Bethesda made no narrative adjustments to cater for this ‘shared universe’ notion, so it’s absolutely bogus. Not that it’ll silence the theorists out there, who’ll undoubtedly keep searching for evidence.

“No, I don’t think there’s any universe in which those universes are in the same universe,” Hines said. “That’s not a thing.”

So there you have it, Vault Boy won’t be popping up in Tamriel anytime soon.
