MEO 2020

The Melbourne Esports Open And IEM 2020 Have Been Cancelled

The Melbourne Esports Open and subsequently the Intel Extreme Masters have announced that the 2020 event will no longer take place.

The event will now take place in August 2021 (12 months after the 2020 event was supposed to take place), with ticket holders for the 2020 event able to keep their tickets for next year’s event or get a refund.

This was set to be the first year that the Intel Extreme Masters event took place in Melbourne whilst the Melbourne Esports Open was going to happen for the third year in a row.

The full statement reads:

The Melbourne Esports Open will no longer take place in 2020, and instead has been rescheduled to the weekend of August 21-22, 2021. This decision has been reached in light of the current global health situation, and is in line with protective measures implemented in respect of mass gatherings, and importantly, is made in the interest of safety for players, staff, and fans looking to attend the event.

If you have already booked your trip to Melbourne in 2020, we recommend you reschedule any bookings where possible. Your purchased tickets for 2020 still remain fully valid for the Melbourne Esports Open in 2021. If you already know you can’t make the new dates, you are able to request a refund anytime over the next month through Ticketek.

The Intel Extreme Masters will be returning to the Melbourne Esports Open in 2021 also, with all tickets purchased in 2020 staying valid for next year’s event. Stay tuned for more information on the Melbourne Esports Open 2021.
