This Trailer For HBO’s Gritty Mario Kart Adaptation Is Ridiculously Good

Finally, the Mario we deserve.

With the incredible Pedro Pascal on hosting duty this weekend, late-night comedy showcase Saturday Night Live took the opportunity to put the co-lead of HBO’s The Last of Us to work in a new, equally gritty video game role.

I give you, HBO’s Mario Kart:

Aside from the shockingly high production values exhibited in the 3-minute skit (if you were very Onlinearound 2010 you might pick up on the involvement of Mike Diva here), the trailer is packed with some genuinely funny gags. Honestly, I’d watch a full run of this show in a heartbeat, if nothing else than to see more of Pascal in the iconic overalls.
