Dead Cells Is Getting An Animated Series

Dead Cells has quickly seen a bit of a resurgence of late, with the likes of its massive Castlevania expansion having launched a few months ago and garnered plenty of praise. Now, developer Twin Motion has revealed that the game is being adapted to an animated series.

The series is being made by Bobbypills, which is also behind Ubisoft’s upcoming Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon series and originally created the animated trailers for Dead Cells. It’s being co-produced by French anime streaming service ADN, and will initially only be available to French viewers being later being rolled out more widely.

The Dead Cells animated series will comprise of 10, roughly seven-minute episodes set on a cursed island racked by a mysterious plague, where a misguided attempt at a cure by its king results in the population being transformed into grotesque creatures. A flame-headed saviour is prophesied to appear and set things right, only he’s a little reluctant.
