Twisted Metal Has Set Streaming Records For Peacock

Audiences had a Sweet Tooth for this show.

Deadline has reported that Twisted Metal, the recent TV adaptation of the old-school PlayStation combat racing franchise, has been a fairly decent success for NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service.

The series, which in Australia is available on Stan, has apparently become Peacock’s “most-binged” comedy premiere to date, with the average viewing knocking out three episodes per viewing and many consuming the entire 10-episode run in one go.

NBCUniversal also says that it’s been one of the most successful Peacock original series’ so far, earning a place in the top five along with Bel Air, The Best Man: Final Chapters, Poker Face and Based on a True Story. Data from Nielsen shows that the series drew 400 million “viewing minutes” in its first post-premiere weekend.

Twisted Metal stars Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Will Arnett, Samoa Joe, Neve Campbell and more in an original story based on the classic franchise. All 10 episodes are available to stream on Stan in Australia, right here.

If you find yourself with a taste for more Twisted Metal after watching the show, the first two games recently arrived on PS5 and PS4 via the PlayStation Plus Deluxe classics catalogue.

Official Synopsis: Twisted Metal, a half-hour live-action TV series based on the classic PlayStation game series, is a high-octane action comedy, based on an original take by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and written by Michael Jonathan Smith, about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.
