The second, major free update for this year’s excellent Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown arrives today, bringing with it some exciting new modes for those seeking a challenge after they’ve conquered everything else the game has to offer.
This new “Boss Attack” update for the game allows players to return to previous boss fights without resorting to starting the game fresh, letting them pick a specific boss to square off against via Artaban’s training room in The Haven. Players are able to choose between the aptly-named Boss Revenge mode where they tackle a foe of their choosing in a one-off fight, or get extra brave and opt for the Boss Rush option and fight all eight bosses in a row.
In the single-fight Boss Revenge mode, you’ll go into each fight we preset stats, but can take in our own amulets and Athra Surges. In Boss Rush, you’ll get breaks between fights to change your amulets and Surges but won’t have any way to replenish consumables or health between bouts. Beating Boss Rush will net you a Prince of Persia 2008-inspired outfit, while beating it in a new and brutal No Hit difficulty will earn you a mostly-naked Sargon, which is brilliant.
In addition, the game has finally added fast travel between the Wak-Wak trees, and done some work on the readability of some attacks when using the high contrast accessibility option.

We gave Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown a huge 9/10 in our review earlier this year, with Steven saying, “I thoroughly enjoyed The Lost Crown. It took me a little under 18 hours to finish the game with quite a bit of exploring off the beaten track along the way – and the next day all I wanted to do was pick the game back up get to more exploring. It’s got compelling exploration, great feeling movement, engaging combat and satisfying puzzles. Genuine innovation in the genre and smartly integrated accessibility features make The Lost Crown a game I heartily recommend.”
