This morning saw the annual Xbox Games Showcase return, full of new game announcements, fresh trailers and updates for existing or already-announced titles and an exciting surprise or two.
Of course, following the main event the company also hosted a special Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, which revealed a huge amount of information about the game (all of which was unfortunately leaked by Xbox’s own digital store just hours before the show kicked off).
The big news first, the game will release on October 25th, 2024 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC, and will be included with Xbox Game Pass.
It’s available for pre-order now starting at $109.95, and as is the norm, pre-orders will include early access to an upcoming open beta along with some bonus DLC.
The Black Ops 6 Direct also revealed a heap of new details around the game’s assortment of modes, its campaign story, maps, new gameplay mechanics and an exciting return to a round-based Zombies mode. There’ll be an epic new “spy action thriller” campaign to play through which is said to contain “a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists and cloak-and-dagger spy activity,” and for multiplayer fans there will be 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
