Right on time for the recent resurgence in popularity off the back of the success of the Fallout TV show on Prime Video, the free Skyline Valley update for Fallout 76 is available right now on all platforms, alongside the new Season 17.
Skyline Valley represents the first major expansion of Fallout 76’s map since it launched nearly six years ago, taking players to the southernmost reaches of Appalachia and to a wooded area that was once Shenandoah National Park. It gives players new and old a wealth of new locations to explore, new places to set up C.A.M.P, new enemies and history to discover and of course, the inhabitants of the very mysterious Vault 63. It’s here that players will also encounter a brand-new variety of Ghoul, a supercharged breed known as the Lost.
“I think of our map as the main character of our game, and so looking at the new region, it’s using the qualities of that region and what that region offers, using the traits of that region to shape the new faction and their abilities,” the game’s director, Jon Rush, told us in a recent interview. “Ghouls are very popular, and we wanted to find a way to bring them into the new story but have them also fit in that environment.”

Along with the map expansion, Season 17 of the game, dubbed Pioneer Scouts – Skyline Valley also kicks off now. It’ll come with new rewards and events, including the iconic Fasnacht, and kicks off another few months of exciting activities.
“Before this game I hadn’t really heard of Fastnacht before, and now I’m, like, Captain Fastnacht!” Rush told us in the same interview.
