What games have Aussie and New Zealand players been picking up most in recent weeks? That’s the question we’re answering every Monday with thanks to the weekly Top 10 ANZ Games Charts from the folks over at the Interactive Games & Entertainment Association (IGEA).
The latest report, which comes from the week ending June 23rd, 2024, shows a pretty unsurprising new release crowned #1, but also comes with some interesting patterns. The headline here is Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion rocketing straight to the top of the tops which, after learning the DLC has already sold over 5 million copies, is not at all shocking.
The base Elden Ring game is also in the mix on the Aussie side of the charts at #6, and is one of three IP team-ups in the Australian Top 10. GTA V’s moved up its typical place to #2, but is also joined by GTA Online in at #7, and three Dragon Age: games have swung in with Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age II and Dragon Age: Inquisition in at #8, #5 and #4 respectively. The GTA and Dragon Age double/triple feature is mirrored on the NZ side of the charts as well, although our Kiwi friends haven’t squeezed the Elden Ring base game in there which makes me think they were more prepared than us for the DLC. More than me, at least.
