Capcom Has Dropped A Bunch Of New Monster Hunter Wilds Gameplay Videos

Start doing your homework now.

Over the last couple of days, Capcom has been casually dropping a heap of new gameplay footage of its hugely-anticipated hunting action sequel, Monster Hunter Wilds, over on the game’s official YouTube channel.

While not traditional “gameplay trailers,” this series of videos – of which there are five at the time of writing – are short, 4K vignettes showcasing some of the game’s basic mechanics as well as the specifics of its various weapons.

We’ve got looks at the game’s basic mechanics and Seikret riding, the Focus Mode, Great Sword, Heavy Bowgun and Insect Glaive so far, with most of the videos running at just under or over a minute each. With the game not due out until 2025, it certainly seems like an odd choice to put out these informative vignettes now, but for Monster Hunter fans eager to lap up any bit of footage with looks at the new game (and its monsters) in action, they’re not unwelcome.

Monster Hunter Wilds is due to launch for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC at an unannounced date in 2025. Capcom has already spoken about one of the core themes of the game, which is the idea of a living and changing world with different ecosystems and weather events to contend with even as you revisit familiar areas, including monsters that change and adapt over time.

The series’ 14 weapon types will return, although naturally they’ll each pack in new actions with the Great Sword and Heavy Bowgun shown off in the trailer. There are new systems and gear like the Focus Mode and the Hook Slingshot, and of course new and returning monsters like the Doshaguma, Chatacabra, Dalthydon, Ceratonoth and Seikret.
