This morning saw a brand-new edition of Geoff Keighley’s annual Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase, kicking off the massive Gamescom show in Cologne, Germany with a couple of hours of new trailers, updates, world premiere announcements and more.
One exciting update came via a brand-new look at Dune: Awakening, the new survival MMO from Conan Exiles developer, Funcom, which is slated to launch on PC in early 2025.
This new look at the game showed off a glimpse at its earliest moments from character creation to finding yourself alone and fraught in the scorching deserts of Arrakis. Through some quick snippets, we see both on-foot and vehicular traversal, action with various cool-looking skills, gathering and crafting and more in the online, multiplayer world. There are some neat-looking systems in play, like being able to save and sell your own building blueprints, hear about live events and points-of-interest on an in-game radio and massive, heated battles with other players and guilds over Spice.
