GameCube Games Are Finally Being Added To Nintendo Online

Exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2!

During this morning’s Nintendo Switch 2 reveal, it was announced that Nintendo GameCube titles would, at long last, be coming to Nintendo Online, Nintendo’s paid subscription service behind which online play and other classic titles are kept.

While we’ve had NES, Super Nintendo, Game Boy, Nintendo 64, and even select SEGA titles added to the service in the past, GameCube have always been the ones I’d hoped to see one day.

The few games announced to arrive in time for the launch of Switch 2 include The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Soulcalibur II, and F-Zero GX. The games, as you’d expect, will boast better image quality and resolutions than their original releases. Most surprising, however, is that while the new additions are going to be included with Nintendo Online, they’ll be exclusive to the new console.

Other games expected to arrive at a later date include:

  • Super Mario Sunshine
  • Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
  • Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness
  • Super Mario Strikers
  • Chibi Robo
  • Luigi’s Mansion
  • Pokemon Colosseum
