Hellblade II Enhanced’s Release Date Has Been Revealed Alongside A PS5 Version Of The OG Game

Yessss!

Ninja Theory has today announced that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced will release on August 12th. It’ll be a free update for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC/Steam and will release on PS5 on the same day.

The new version will feature a performance mode with 60FPS on console as well as a very high preset on PC to push fidelity even more, and the game will now be Steam Deck verified for the first time too. On the PS5 it will have PS5 Pro support and also take advantage of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

It will feature a new Dark Rot mode where the Dark Rot will grow each time you fail, and if it reaches Senua’s head, the game will be over and you’ll have to start all over again. It will also feature an enhanced photo mode with a new motion tab for custom cinematic video capture as well as over four hours of developer commentary.

It’s also been revealed that the original game is getting updated for PS5. Those that had the game on PS4 will be upgraded for free, or you’ll be able to buy a special deluxe edition which will include the original game as well as the original soundtrack as well.

In our original Hellblade 2 review, we gave it a 9/10 and said: “Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is yet another arresting, artful chapter in an adventure now two games long. Though it might approach iteration with a very safe hand, only going so far as to correct the original’s shortcomings, Ninja Theory’s clear strengths in story craft, audiovisual design, as well as their care for the dark subject matter manage to shine through brighter than ever before.
