Although it feels as though we’re receiving the news a little earlier than usual, Xbox has gone ahead and announced the official date for their annual Xbox Games Showcase, which, as has become standard, has a follow-up direct dedicated to a high-profile game coming out within the year.
We’ve seen them for Starfield, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, The Outer Worlds 2, and now, Gears of War: E-Day will be the focus of the special feature that’s set to take place after the regular showcase concludes.
Given Xbox’s approach to these directs, this all but cements their plans to release the Gears of War prequel this year, after showing off Kiln, Fable, Forza Horizon 6, and Beast of Reincarnation at the Developer_Direct back in January.

The Xbox Games Showcase + Gears of War: E-Day Direct will take place on Monday, June 8th, in Australia at these times:
- 3:00 AM AEST (Melbourne/Sydney/Hobart/Canberra/Brisbane)
- 2:30 AM ACST (Adelaide, Darwin)
- 1:00 AM AWST (Perth)
- 5:00 AM NZST (Wellington)
