Nintendo Has Confirmed The Discontinuation Of The NES Classic Mini

Last week, we wrote about Australian retailers receiving their last allocation of the NES Classic Mini.

Nintendo of America have now confirmed to IGN that the NES Classic Mini has been discontinued in North America. This is due to the fact that it was never seen to be a long-term product.

A Nintendo representative told IGN:

“Throughout April, NOA territories will receive the last shipments of Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition systems for this year. We encourage anyone interested in obtaining this system to check with retail outlets regarding availability. We understand that it has been difficult for many consumers to find a system, and for that we apologize. We have paid close attention to consumer feedback, and we greatly appreciate the incredible level of consumer interest and support for this product.”

Australia has received roughly 4-5 shipments of the NES Classic Mini since late last year with the last one being by far the biggest allocation.
