When Detective Pikachu was announced as a live-action movie starring Ryan Reynolds, I was pretty worried. The first trailer dropped overnight and it looks pretty damn good.
In the trailer, we get a look at Ryan Reynolds voicing Detective Pikachu (as well as the all too familiar Pika Pika voice). We also get a look at Charizard, Bulbasaur, Mr. Mime and Greninja and what they’d look like in a real world scenario, and I have to say, they look surprisingly great.
It still feels a bit weird to have such a familiar voice voicing Pikachu, but I think that the humour might just pull it off.
Detective Pikachu comes out on May 11th, 2019.
