Nintendo has finally revealed the release date and all eight courses featuring in the fifth wave of content for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass, after teasing it in the most recent Nintendo Direct.
This next wave, which will arrive on July 12th, adds eight new courses for players to race on, and re-introduces three playable racers from previous Mario Kart titles in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the first time with Petey Pirahna, Wiggler and Kamek all joining the fray. The new line-up of courses includes no less than three from Mario Kart Tour, with a good mix of Wii, Double Dash and Super Circuit for the rest, plus one brand-new track in the form of Squeaky Clean Sprint.
The new courses making their way into the game are:
- Koopa Cape (Mario Kart Wii)
- Los Angeles Laps (Mario Kart Tour)
- Moonview Highway (Mario Kart Wii)
- Athens Dash (Mario Kart Tour)
- Daisy Cruiser (Mario Kart Double Dash)
- Sunset Wilds (Mario Kart Super Circuit)
- Vancouver Velocity (Mario Kart Tour)
- Squeaky Clean Sprint
This also marks the second-to-last drop of new courses from the game, with one more set of eight courses still to come before the end of 2023. When the previous wave released and we got Birdo added to the roster the game was also updated with five new empty character slots. With three of those now filled, it seems like we’ve potentially got two more DLC characters to look forward to in the next wave.
Here’s the new trailer for Wave 5 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass.
As usual these tracks are available as part of the paid Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass expansion pack, which is available to purchase here. Players can also access the courses at no additional cost with a paid Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.
