Nintendo’s next Mario movie is less than a year away from releasing, with a scheduled date of April 3rd, 2026, and it looks like we now know the name of the movie thanks to what seems to be a slip-up from NBCUniversal.

The press release had Super Mario World listed alongside other upcoming major movies, although this has now since been removed (almost giving it more validity).

“An exciting range of films from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation and Illumination were presented, including Megan 2.0, Nobody 2, Bad Guys 2, How to Train Your Dragon, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, Black Phone 2, HIM, The Phoenician Scheme, Super Mario World, Shrek, and Minions.”

This makes sense given (spoilers), Yoshi was in the final scene of the original Mario movie and his first appearance was also in Super Mario World so it makes sense that we’d see that be the next step for the movie franchise.

At the time of writing no other information about the next Mario movie has been revealed outside of the fact that it expand the world of Mario.
