Blusky user dootsky has discovered a new Nintendo Switch 2 model number on the official accounts portal for Nintendo.
The Switch 2 model code is OSM which differs from the Switch 2 model code that is BEE, and an image of a Switch 2 is shown confirming that this is in-fact a Switch 2 model over the original Switch.
I think I've discovered something interesting, but I have no idea what it implies:On Nintendo's Account Portal, there's an unused model code under the name "OSM". (The Switch 2's model code is BEE.)The portal has images for each Switch model, and requesting OSM returns an image of a Switch 2.
It’s unclear what this new model is, although it’s being widely theorised that due to the Switch 2 likely going up in price this year due to major ram shortages that will impact the tech world this year, that this could be a Switch 2 Lite, or a model that will be released to allow the Switch 2 to remain at a lower price point in the lead-up to its second holiday period.
I doubt that this will lead to an imminent announcement, but no doubt Nintendo is working on future Switch 2 models, and with huge price increases set to com this year in the tech space, this makes a lot of sense.
We’ll keep you posted on any advancements here, and obviously it could be nothing but it does seem unlikely that this would be the case given the other model numbers that exist on the website that all directly relate to existing models.
