Melbourne’s PlaySide Publishing Is Bringing Thrive: Heavy Lies The Crown To Early Access Next Year

The second title under PlaySide's new label.

PlaySide Publishing, the recently-established publishing arm of Melbourne-based PlaySide Studios, has revealed the second title to be brought to life under its care after Dynasty of the Sands, and it’s similarly a fresh run at the city building genre.

Thrive: Heavy Lies The Crown is set to be a medieval city builder with complex systems and RTS-style mechanics that allows players (and up to three friends) to decide whether they’ll rule with benevolence and compassion or build their kingdom out of tyranny and exploitation as they expand and defend their dominion.

PlaySide, along with developer Zugalu Entertainment, have now announced at Gamescom that Thrive will launch as an Early Access title in 2024 on PC, with a beta playtest happening this year that keen players can sign up for now on Steam.

Branden Sloane, Co-Founder & CEO at Zugalu Entertainment said in an accompanying press release, “Thrive: Heavy Lies the Crown offers a fully-realized single-player experience for solo play, or the ability to play in up to four-player multiplayer. Rarely in this genre do you get to build your kingdom alongside or against your friends.”
