Sony Totally Just Trademarked Syphon Filter For Some Reason

Though we shouldn’t get our hopes up for a reboot just yet, it’s slightly encouraging news that Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe has in fact trademarked the name Syphon Filter this week.

Gabe Logan’s “budget Bond” undercover exploits made for rather enjoyable games on the PlayStation and PlayStation 2, but given Bend is busy developing Days Gone, it’s unlikely they’d be retaking the helm should the franchise resurface.

The latest entry in the Syphon Filter series was Logan’s Shadow which launched on PSP a decade ago, though it was ported to PlayStation 2 in 2010.

So although Syphon Filter has been on a lengthy hiatus, perhaps it’s due for a resurgence. Especially given Sony’s readiness to revive their dormant properties, as they’ve done recently with Loco Roco and Parappa.
