Sony has announced that they’ve acquired Insomniac Games.
Insomniac Games are the developers behind Ratchet and Clank, Spyro the Dragon and more recently Spider-Man.
Sony and Insomniac have had a long relationship, but Insomniac has always maintained that they’d like to keep their options open when it comes to developing for different platforms. More recently, they developed Sunset Overdrive which was an Xbox One exclusive.
This means that Insomniac Games is now apart of PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios. They did however confirm that whilst Insomniac do own the rights to Sunset Overdrive (meaning a sequel could come to PlayStation exclusive), the original is an Xbox exclusive.
Big news: @InsomniacGames is joining PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios! We are honored and thrilled to join forces with this legendary developer. Please join us in congratulating our friends and partners at Insomniac! pic.twitter.com/hhhqhxZE7k

This marks the first time since Sony has acquired a studio since 2011, where they also acquired Sucker Punch Productions.
