This console launch has been quite different to every other. Whilst consoles are normally hard to come by at launch, we’ve never seen console pre-orders come and go so quickly, and then be mostly pre-sold sold out until 2021.
We’ve spoken to most Australian retailers (and also gone off the knowledge of how many waves of pre-orders they’ve pre-sold) and ranked which are most likely to have stock for the PS5 and Xbox Series X before the end of the year. This obviously isn’t final, and we’ll let you know if we see stock come in for either the PS5/Xbox Series X, but these are the retailers you should keep checking with.
It’s also worth noting that due to limited supply and extremely high demand, it’s likely that stock will be sold online for the foreseeable future at all of these retailers.
WHERE TO BUY A PS5/XBOX SERIES X IN AUSTRALIA BEFORE CHRISTMAS
- Amazon: Highly likely. They only sold one wave of PS5 and Xbox Series X pre-orders and we know that that there’s at least another shipment or two coming into the country this year. The PS5 listing can be found HERE and the Xbox Series X listing can be found HERE.
- Big W: Also highly likely. They only sold one wave of both of the PS5 and Xbox Series X pre-orders and again we know that there are more shipments coming into the country.
- Harvey Norman: Likely. They only took one or two waves of pre-orders for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X and are likely to have more stock before end of year.
- Sony Store: Extremely likely. Sony store website says that they’ve only sold out of the first allocation. Likely we’ll see more stock before end of year. Sony sold out of PS5s initially and then we never saw more stock pop up. You can register for updates HERE.
- Target: Somewhat likely. Whilst they only sold one wave of pre-orders, people also got pushed back meaning that that second wave could also be taken up by pre-orders.
- JB Hi-Fi: Maybe for PS5 stock. It appears they only sold out one or two waves of PS5 pre-orders. Almost certainly not for Xbox Series X as they’ve sold out three waves of consoles.
- EB Games: Almost certainly no chance for both consoles as they’ve pre-sold out three waves all the way through to early 2021. We may see pre-orders come back later this year but even then, it’d be for stock coming in next year.
- Xbox All Access: Still appears to have Xbox Series X stock for 2020, but you must be a Telstra customer. Grab one here.
- The Good Guys: Also sold multiple waves for both the PS5/Xbox Series X so unlikely they’ll have more stock this year.
- Microsoft Store: Looks to be sold out for 2020 as they’ve sold several waves of Xbox Series X. You can keep an eye on it here.
The Xbox Series X officially launches on November 10th and the PS5 launches on November 12th.
