The PS5 Now Warns You Before Playing A PS4 Game When There’s A PS5 Version

One of the more confusing things that has plagued the PS5 launch in comparison to the Xbox Series X is how it handles cross-gen games. When there’s a PS4 and PS5 version of a game on your account such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla or Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the PS5 would often load up the wrong version, meaning you’d need to take multiple steps to change it

A new update appears to have made this less confusing. As pointed out by Twitter use Tidux, when launching Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, the PS5 now warns you that you’re about to play the PS4 version. It’s unclear if this was introduced in a system-wide update or will be introduced in game updates.

This is definitely a big improvement, but there’s still a bunch of UI fixes that the PS5 needs. It’ll be interesting to see how long it takes to get external storage for PS5 and the like.
