It took up a mere minute of The Game Awards’ mammoth 3-hour runtime, but Horizon Forbidden West’s showing at the event still made a big impact.
The new trailer, aptly titled “New Threats” showed us a montage of locations and enemies from the new game as well as glimpses at how Aloy will need to deal with them. In the footage, returning machines look as imposing as ever while brand new ones look to offer even greater gameplay and tactical opportunities. Meanwhile, the different locals and biomes look drop-dead gorgeous.
In particular, a huge snake-like machine wrapped around a ruin on the beach has us incredibly excited to get personally acquainted. You’ll notice that Aloy sports a striking red outfit in certain sections as well! Check out the trailer below:
Most recently, Guerilla took to the PlayStation Blog to talk about designing these new machines and the gameplay challenges associated with them. You can read about that here.
Horizon Forbidden West releases for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on February 18, 2022. You can pre-order the game digitally on the PlayStation Store as either a Standard or Digital Deluxe edition.
