Rockstar has finally confirmed that the next Grand Theft Auto game is officially on the way. In a blog post that updated us on all things Grand Theft Auto, Rockstar confirmed that Grand Theft Auto V had unprecedented longevity (which is set to continue with the PS5/Xbox Series X release of the game) but that the next Grand Theft Auto is officially in active development.
“With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.” said Rockstar.
Obviously, it’s really hard to know what this means in terms of release timeline. Rockstar is usually tight lipped about game details/release date until their game is very close to releasing, so we could hear something next year, or maybe even 3-4 years away depending on the scope of this game.
