Australia Will Seemingly Get PlayStation Plus Deluxe Instead Of PlayStation Plus Premium

We’re just getting our ahead around the newly announced three tiers of PlayStation Plus that are set to launch at some point this year, but it appears that there’s actually a fourth tier for those countries that don’t have access to PlayStation Now, which at this point would be Australia. Whilst PlayStation has said it does plan on offering cloud streaming to more territories before the launch of the new tiers, at this moment we believe that we will be getting PlayStation Plus Deluxe instead of PlayStation Plus Premium.

PlayStation Plus Deluxe will be offered at a cheaper rate than that of PlayStation Plus Premium and still includes 400 PS5/PS4 games that can be downloaded as well as PS1/PS2/PSP games that can also be downloaded, but the PS3 games that so many were after, will not be available to PlayStation Plus Deluxe subscribers as they need to be streamed and at the time of this announcement, Australia does not have access to streaming and isn’t a listed country.

The direct quote from the PlayStation Blog is below:

  • PlayStation Plus Deluxe (Select Markets) For markets without cloud streaming, PlayStation Plus Deluxe will be offered at a lower price compared to Premium, and includes a catalog of beloved classic games from the original PlayStation, PS2 and PSP generations to download and play, along with time-limited game trials. Benefits from Essential and Extra tiers are also included. Local pricing will vary by market.

Just as a reminder, the PlayStation Plus Essential tier will remain as we currently know it (two free games as well as cloud storage and multiplayer access) and the brand new middle PlayStation Plus Extra tier will add 400+ PS5/PS4 games, including the likes of Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, and Returnal.

We’ll keep you posted on this in the morning as we learn more from PlayStation Australia.

UPDATE:

PlayStation Australia has now confirmed that we will indeed be getting PlayStation Plus Deluxe and not PlayStation Plus Premium. We’ve also confirmed that pricing for PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Deluxe will be available at a later date.
