UPDATE: The Jotnar and Collector’s Edition has now sold out. Amazon currently has the cheapest price for the standard edition.
Amazon looks to be stocking only the game, but as always, you won’t pay until the game ships and it’s free shipping (and if it drops in price between now and release date, you’ll get the cheapest price).
Sony Santa Monica also confirmed that there will be four different versions of the game, including a Collector’s Edition and a Jotnar edition which both include a 16″ Mjolnir replica. PlayStation Australia has now confirmed that pre-orders for God of War: Ragnarok will begin in Australia at 10:00am AEST on Friday, July 15th.
There’s a couple of things to go through. We don’t know 100% that we will be getting both the Collector’s Edition/Jotnar Edition although considering we got both the Horizon Forbidden West Regalia Edition/Collector’s Edition I don’t see why we wouldn’t. We also don’t have any Australian pricing yet (this hasn’t been revealed anywhere in the world yet).
When it comes to exact timing, obviously we know from previous experiences (PS5 for one) that Australian retailers do tend to go rogue with this, so whilst we do believe that pre-orders will go live on Friday, July 15th, I wouldn’t be surprised to see pre-orders go live earlier that morning, so I’d just be prepared if you’re wanting to get an order in for the Collector’s Edition or Jotnar edition. Hopefully everyone plays nice and it is 10am AEST, but it’s better to be prepared earlier.
It’s expected that at least the Jotnar edition will be exclusive to at least one retailer if we get it. For instance the Horizon Forbidden West Regalia Edition was exclusive to JB Hi-Fi in Australia whilst the Collector’s Edition was exclusive to EB Games. Unfortunately, we cannot confirm this at this time, but will obviously let you know when we know more.
