THQ Nordic held its showcase overnight ending it with the announcement of a new South Park game being in development. It announced that as of today, it has 43 games in development with 26 still to be announced before quickly scribbling out the 26 and replacing it with a 25, before revealing one last game.
The company announced that a South Park game is in development by South Park Digital Studios, which leads us to believe that THQ Nordic is now the rights holder for South Park in the gaming space.
It’s unclear what type of game it will be but I’d be putting my money on it being some kind of platformer and moving away from the last few which were RPGs.
The last two games were created by Ubisoft and released in 2017 and 2014. Prior to that it goes all the way back to 1998 where the first South Park game was released on Nintendo 64 and PlayStation. It was a platformer that I certainly have a lot of fond memories of.
We’ll keep you posted when we hear more about the South Park game. Obviously, it could be some time before we hear anymore about it given no other information was revealed outside of a teaser.
