Avalanche Studios has announced that the Hogwarts Legacy release date will be February 10th, 2023 for PS5/PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. Unfortunately, the Nintendo Switch release date will be later and hasn’t been revealed at this time.
This comes alongside an announcement that the game has been delayed out of its 2022 release window. This makes for a second consecutive delay despite the game never having a release date before today.
Community Manager, Chandler Wood made the announcement on Twitter: “You may be disappointed that the game has been delayed out of 2022, but we’re excited to finally give you a release date you can look forward to. We’re excited about what we’re creating here at the studio and we just need a little bit more time to deliver the best possible experience for everyone. We appreciate your patience as we continue to work on the game and we can’t wait to bring you the game early next year”.

In case you haven’t been following the game since its announcement at the PS5 reveal in 2020, Hogwarts Legacy is a fully open world action RPG set in the Harry Potter world. It’s set in the late 1800s so well before Harry and the gang were at Hogwarts but you’ll be able to create your character, learn spells, create motions and do all kinds of missions in Hogwarts and other well-known locations from the Harry Potter universe. You’ll also be sorted into one of the four houses just like in the movies.
Hopefully we get to see more of the game in the lead-up to its February 10th release date. With games such as Dead Space, Starfield, Redial, Breath of the Wild 2, Forspoken, Resident Evil 4 Remake and a few other AAA bangers set to release at the start of 2023, it’s bound to be a great year for games.
