Bloomberg is reporting that PlayStation VR2 mass production started in September with Sony preparing to have two million units ready by March next year.
This is significant due to the fact that it took eight months to sell one million units of the original PlayStation VR and well over a year to sell two million units.
This number suggests to us that PlayStation VR is probably gearing up to release in the extremely early stages of next year, likely January of February.
“Mass production of the virtual reality goggles began in September and hasn’t yet faced supply chain constraints, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing private information. The production figure could be adjusted depending on the device’s sales momentum once it’s released early next year.” said Bloomberg.
We still don’t have a release date or price for PlayStation VR2 yet, but this is good news considering the PS5 has had supply issues since it was released two years ago and is only showing signs of easing now.
