Ubisoft has announced, as part of celebrations of the game’s fifth anniversary, that its 2018 open world FPS, Far Cry 5, is getting an upgrade for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
As of a new patch that’s been deployed now, the game will run at 60fps on all of the above consoles in all of the game’s modes and three DLC expansions – a boost from the 30fps cap that was originally in place from the last generation platforms.

On Xbox Series X, the game’s resolution has been bumped up to a full 4K, while the Xbox Series S is updated to 1080p. Over on the PS5, the resolution isn’t being updated and remains at 2880×1620, likely due to this being an update to the PS4 version rather than a brand-new PS5 SKU.
Anyone who missed the game the first time around will also have a chance to check it out with a free weekend happening from March 23rd – March 27th on all consoles as well as PC.
We gave Far Cry 5 a 9/10 in our original review, saying “Far Cry 5 is an absolute blast from beginning to end, chock full of things to do and involve yourself in. The narrative is interesting, and everything you do in Hope County feels meaningful in some way or another — making for an experience that feels as rewarding as it does enjoyable.”
