Mortal Kombat 1’s Rumoured DLC Characters Have Finally Been Confirmed

Or is it Konfirmed?

NetherRealm used last weekend’s huge San Diego Comic-Con event to officially unveil the six fighters coming to its Kombat Pack 1 DLC, finally confirming some long-rumoured characters coming to the game both from Mortal Kombat past as well as some recognisable comic and TV “heroes.”

In the new Official Kombat Pack Roster Reveal Trailer you can see the first Mortal Kombat 1 renders of returning fighters Takeda, Ermac and Quan Chi as well as newly introduced cross-franchise characters, Omni Man (Invincible), Homelander (The Boys) and Peacemaker (Peacemaker). The studio is evidently drawing on TV looks for the latter three, with Homelander and Peacemaker very much looking like actors Antony Starr and John Cena, while Omni Man’s design is recognisably based on JK Simmons – who voices Omni Man in the animated series and has been confirmed by NetherRealm as providing voice work in Mortal Kombat 1 as well.

You can watch the reveal trailer below:

The studio also released a new Story Trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 over the weekend, confirming three more base game characters with Baraka, Tanya and Li Mei – the latter of which who hasn’t been a playable fighter since Mortal Kombat Armageddon in 2006. It’s a hefty, three-minute trailer with plenty for fans to chew over and continues to showcase how high-production and gorgeous this game is going to be when it arrives on September 19th.

We recently got hands-on with Mortal Kombat 1 at Summer Game Fest and came away excited for more, saying “The game already feels locked in mechanically and it’s gorgeous—I imagine NetherRealm might use the time to tune, balance, and consider the initial meta for a game that I can see being yet another piece in what’s becoming a golden age for fighting games.”

Mortal Kombat 1 launches on September 19th. Amazon has pre-orders for $84 including shipping.
