Atomic Heart’s Action-Packed First DLC Expansion Is Out Now

The technological nightmare isn’t over.

Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Mundfish have officially launched the first major DLC expansion for February’s first-person sci-fi action RPG, Atomic Heart, titled Annihilation Instinct.

The expansion takes place following the game’s ending (or, at least one of them), continuing the story in a completely new swamp-based location with new enemies, a new boss, two additional weapons and a new Technostatis ability that allows players to manipulate the very flow of time.

Annihilation Instinct is available individually for $14.95, as part of the $59.95 Atomic Pass or with the Gold or Premium editions of the game. Amazon has physical copies of the base game with one-day delivery available for $74.99. We gave the game a 6.5/10 in our original review, saying “While I ultimately did enjoy my time with Atomic Heart, I can’t not view it as a disappointment. For the few things it does well, its ambitions ultimately cripple it, leaving it firmly in the cold shadow of greater titles that it so desperately seeks to emulate.”

You can watch the Launch Trailer for Atomic Heart’s Annihilaton Instinct DLC expansion below:

“Embark on a new, mind-bending journey with the Atomic Heart: Annihilation Instinct DLC and discover the truth about NORA’s story as Major P-3 is pulled back into Facility 3826. Meet the enigmatic Professor Lebedev to figure out how to suppress the AI’s insanity and curb its Annihilation Instinct.

Continue the story and go on exploring Atomic Heart’s twisted, dystopian world further as you visit the Mendeleev Complex and its surrounding swamps, a completely new area. Take on unhinged machines, shape-shifting new enemies and a brand-new boss. Unlock two new weapons: the Secateur – a ranged weapon with 2 firing modes – and the Klusha – a melee weapon that can slash and pierce! Finally, get the edge and survive by enhancing your polymeric glove with the new Technostasis ability, allowing you to manipulate time itself.”
