PlayStation’s Latest Acquisition Is A High-End Gaming Audio Brand

They acquired Audeze? Nuts!

Sony Interactive Entertainment, ie PlayStation, has announced that it’s entered into a new acquisition agreement – albeit this time not a video game studio. Instead, it’s high-end audio brand, Audeze, known for its sound engineering expertise and 3D audio technologies.

The news comes just days after PlayStation introduced its new Pulse Elite headset which uses magnetic planar drives, a staple of Audeze gaming headsets, and given its innovations in 3D audio on PS5 with things like Tempest it seems like a match made in heaven.

“Audeze is a premier brand for headphones, and this acquisition highlights Sony Interactive’s focus on innovation and providing the best audio experience to PlayStation players,” said Senior Vice President of Platform Experience at Sony Interactive Entertainment, Hideaki Nishino, in an accompanying press release.

“We’re excited to bring Audeze’s expertise into the PlayStation ecosystem, building on the great strides we’ve made with PlayStation 5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech and the Pulse 3D wireless headset.”
