Astro Bot fans, get (tentatively) excited! A very recent trademark filing from Sony Interactive Entertainment has surfaced that could indicate a new entry in the franchise is on the way.
The listing was created just a few days ago on August 25th on the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and subsequently found and shared by Gematsu on social media.
The trademark is simply for the use of the title “Astro Bot” and doesn’t really give much more information, so it could very well just be SIE refreshing its ownership of the property, but I don’t think I’m alone in really wanting to see a brand-new Astro Bot game on an even bigger scale than the excellent Astro’s Playroom that launched for free with the PS5. Hell, a sequel to Astro Bot Rescue Mission for the PS VR2 would also be great.

When Astro’s Playroom first launched alongside the PlayStation 5 console in November 2020, we said, “As a free pack-in game, Astro’s Playroom is a great showcase of the new DualSense controller. More importantly though, it goes above and beyond in celebrating the history of PlayStation. There’s throwbacks to PlayStation’s greatest games and moments at every turn and it’s a genuine delight from start to finish.”
