It’s hard to believe it’s snuck up this fast, but Mortal Kombat 1 is nearly here. NetherRealms’ rebooted Mortal Kombat universe arrives next week on September 19th for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and PC – but like many modern AAA releases, it’s also going to be made available even earlier for those eager enough to slap down a bit of extra cash on a fancier edition of the game.
The Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition is, as the name suggests, a souped-up version of the game that comes with a bunch of extra goodies. For 90s action movie fans there’s the very cool Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for Johnny Cage, there’s also the inclusion of the game’s first Kombat Pack which comes with six new playable fighters and five Kameo characters, 1250 “Dragon Krystals” worth of in-game currency and five days earlier access to the game itself, starting this week.
Physical copies of the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition will be available as of Thursday, September 14th, meaning that you’ll be able to pop into your local or eagerly await the Amazon courier to snag your copy and start playing. Digital pre-orders are a little different and unfortunately timed with the rest of the world, so they won’t unlock until the early morning of Friday, September 15th.
